Decision Making Tips.
Making important decisions is a key part of being a pilot
Making important decisions is a key part of being a pilot – in fact it falls under one of the Core Pilot Competencies that ATOs and airlines are looking for in their potential candidates!
However, decision making will start much sooner in your training journey! The first main decision will be into choosing your ATO to commence your professional pilot training.
There are several ways of establishing decisions and some people are more than capable of balancing this all in their heads! A more practical way may be a decision matrix. This is a perfect way of quickly evaluating your options and their suitability. This is a great tool to use at an even such as Pilot Careers Live where you can talk to multiple ATOs in one place and fill the matrix in quickly. An example matrix might look like this – you can of course customise it to your needs/priorities
When you are creating your list of important factors for your research and decision making, you could also use a Boston matrix type diagram to establish what is and isn’t important to you
